Mario Prada is the father of the Prada style of vogue and accessories. He began his business in 1913 in Milan, Italy by designing and selling shoes, baggage and handbags. His earliest baggage was burdensome and bulky, which was not well fitting for traveling in airplanes of the era. Rather than redecorate his baggage, he decided that he would deliberate on handbags and leather accessories. His enterprise was not instantly profitable but made him a good living, enough to support his family while growing the business. Eventually, his goods took hold and he began to have some success. As Mario grew older, other members of his family took considerable roles in the business, which was finding great success by the 1950s. His family ran the business and Mario took a bit of a backseat later in his life.

Mario had a granddaughter named Miuccia, who was interested in theatre rather than the family business. She studied the stage over a period of five years at the legendary Teatro Piccolo, in Milan, and was a successful mime, in her own write. She also studied Politics and had aspirations of becoming a lawyer. Miuccia married at about the same time that she took power of Mario’s business and her husband, Patrizio, became her business manager. This arrangement freed Miuccia up to do the company’s merchandise designing. She had no former credentials in this area but she was very innovative and talented. Her fashion sense and talent were extensively established and the Prada brand started to become very commonly recognized as modern and of high quality. One of her most recognized items was a backpack made of a nylon-like textile. The in 1985, Miuccia unveiled the new Prada handbag, which was acclaimed as both fashionable and very sturdy and functional. The handbags, though quite fashionable, were lavishly priced and other producers began to make copies extensively. This imitation marvel brought about the fashion eruption of fashion handbags.

Not only was Miucci Prada designing highly priced and modish handbags but her design talents were bringing incredible fashion change to the world. Her clothing fashions were highly celebrated and were selling like hotcakes to the wealthy and patrician. The year was 1989 and her designs of bright, lacy and frilly clothing were taking the fashion world by force. Since that time, Prada has grown to be one of the most chic, sought after and tasteful brands of designer wear and accessories in the present world. The Prada name is globally recognized and accompanies the adjective “quality” in every way. The high quality continues to require very steep prices but the Prada clientele are not easiliy unsettled by price.

When quality and high fashion are mixed, the name that carries world-wide acknowledgment and instant incredulity and satisfaction, is Prada and it is not expected that that will vary any time soon.
