Diamond Engagement Rings – Advice From An Expert

24 April 2010 96 views No Comment

Giving your fiancée an engagement ring after she has said ‘yes’ to your marriage proposal is essential. It is an opportunity to show how much she is worth to you, and to let the world know of your upcoming marriage. This will be one of the most important gifts that you ever buy her, so it is one that you want to get right.

Diamonds are now much more affordable than they used to be, though, of course, they still far from cheap. Remember that cost is not the only consideration though. The most expensive diamond engagement ring that you can afford is not always the best one for your fiancée. What is most important about a diamond engagement ring is how good it looks on her finger and how well it matches her personality.

If you are not a fan of jewelry yourself, do not let that get in the way of giving your fiance an engagement ring that she will treasure. This is not about you, it is about her. If you put in the time and effort to save up for and find the engagement ring of her dreams, she will love you even more. She will have dreamt of this ring for a long time, so you owe it to her to not make it a disappointment.

Every woman wants her diamond ring to be noticed. She wants to be envied, but she also wants it to reflect her and who she is. It is not difficult for you to find a suitable diamond engagement ring, so long as you know what to look out for…

Clarity : Refers to how clear and ‘perfect’ a diamond is. All diamonds are assessed and internal (inclusions) and external (blemishes) are noted down. A flawless diamond is rated as ‘F’, but those cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Imperfections on diamonds lower down the scale are unnoticeable to the human eye though, so there is no need to spend a fortune.

Color : Diamonds are commonly thought to all be colorless, but they actually come in a wide range of colors. You will probably find that most of the diamonds that you see in stores are slightly yellow. Completely colorless ones are very, very expensive, so opting for one with a slight yellow tint is fine.

Cut : Refers to the proportions, finish, symmetry, and polish of diamond engagement rings. A well cut diamond will sparkle more. With the advent of technology, the quality of the cut of a diamond can be determined through the use of a computerized system in seconds.

Carat : A carat is the unit of weight that diamonds are measured by. One carat equals 0.20 grams. As larger diamonds are not as common, the more carats a diamond is, the more it is worth.
