Men’s Fashion – A Few Essential Tips

30 August 2010 92 views No Comment

Finding a look or piece of clothing that can remain fashionable through several changes in trends can pose much difficulty to men. Not all of us are knowledgeable fashion gurus who know the latest fad weeks before it catches on. Even if we did, it wouldn’t make too much of a difference since fashion trends are often out the door before anyone notices. Despite the fast times of men’s fashion, there are several looks that have remained prominent through many changes.

Fatigues – The army camo look is not just for fans of the military. For many years, the camouflage pattern has incorporated itself into the most popular looks, whether it was simple accessories or full-on camo gear. Today, it would be best to keep the camo look minimal so that you don’t get confused for a member of the militia (unless, of course, you are). Simple camouflage pieces such as shoes, a bandana, or even a belt can add some much-needed color and interest to an otherwise plain look.

Plaid – Plaid patterns simply just wont go away, so its best to embrace this design into your wardrobe as it will always have a place in fashion. Plaid shirts are currently a bit out of style, but pants, shorts, hats and other items in your closet can certainly sport this versatile look. Just make sure to pick out a plaid design that compliments your wardrobe so that you can use it in a wide variety of situations.

Regular-Fit Jeans – Nothing in fashion can compare to the fit of a pair of regular jeans. Whether you choose to adorn them with emblems or custom stitching, these will remain an essential part of any mans wardrobe. When out shopping for your jeans, keep in mind that you should change colors to reflect the season (brighter colors for the spring/summer and darker tones for the fall/winter). With so many styles and colors to choose from, this should be an easy task.

The One-Color Look – The effectiveness of a monochromatic outfit is profound, yet easily overlooked. When putting together a look of the same color, it is imperative that you vary it in some way so that your style appears cohesive, but not identical. The first way to do this is to select different values of the same color for example, if red is your color of choice, pick out a pair of dark burgundy pants and a red dress shirt so that your look has some variation. Another option available to you is to match the color of all your pieces exactly, but to greatly vary the texture. If you select a thick, wool sweater and a pair of smooth dress pants, you’ll surely create a layered look that will tie everything together by color, but contrast a bit in material.

The trends in men’s fashion are constantly changing, but several fads have withstood the test of time. If you have several of these looks in your closet, you can be certain that you’ll look fashionable no matter what style is currently in.
