Lets start off with my favorite of the night. Plainly the finest dressed up was Catherine Zeta Jones who was looking red hot in her full-length Elie Saab designer gown. The cut was stunning. And the fit was impeccable. She could not have looked much more radiant. It was the highlight of fashion for me for the night. Actress Christie Brinkley is 57 and she looked insanely wonderful in a vivid blue colored full length evening gown. The up-do, make up and shoes & pocket book were all ideal. She could not have looked any less perfect. And Patina Miller was letting the kids have it in her beaded, skin tight evening gown. And her hair and make up worked so properly with the entire ensemble.

Then there were the not so fabulous ones. For example, Joanna Lumley something about it reminded me of the mother of the bride dresses that are on the racks nowadays. But still they were a really nice garment that was effectively proportioned and age appropriate. I additionally had blended feelings about the gown that Brooke Shileds was wearing. From some angles she appeared like a greek goddess. And afterwards other occasions it just looked like an ill fitting and improperly draped sheet. But still, I understand she can do much better. And then there is Whoopi Goldberg. What can you say. The garments she was wearing did not resemble a traditional runway fashions that you would see on a red carpet. But then again that is not her style. It is a fashion all of her own and she wears it proudly so….. a second time, what can you say?

There were many formal dresses and couture evening wear designs on the red carpet for the 2011 Tony Awards. And I applaud all of those who at least tried. But it really appeared as many of the ladies did not have time to get their designer dresses tailored. If most of them had been far better tailoring I think they would have appeared much much more put together and fashionable.
